Morgan Wallen is an American country singer and songwriter, who began his career as a contestant on The Voice in 2014. He currently has two successful albums out, and fans will be able to see him perform live while on tour throughout 2023.

He was born in Sneedville, TN, on May 13, 1993. As a child, Morgan’s interest in music started when he took piano and violin lessons. In high school, he thought he would enter a career in baseball until an injury forced him to quit; he then began to pursue music.

During his time on The Voice, Morgan met Sergio Sanchez, a vocal coach, who he began working with. Morgan would end up moving to Nashville. With Sergio by his side, they formed the band Morgan Wallen & Them Shadows, but it was short-lived. Sergio introduced Morgan to Bill Ray and Paul Trust of Panacea Records, who signed him. Morgan would only record one extended play (EP) for Panacea before being signed to Big Loud Records in 2016.

In 2017 Morgan collaborated with the band Florida Georgia Line on the song “Up Down.” The song rose to the Top 10 on country singles charts, received a gold record, and Morgan included the song on his first full-length album If I Know Me (2018).

The single “Whiskey Glasses” (2018) received a 4x platinum certification and was the song that Morgan considered to be his “breakthrough.”

Morgan’s second album, Dangerous: The Double Album (2021), debuted at the top of the Billboard album charts and had the highest number of first-week streams of a country album to date.

Notable awards that Morgan has received include:

  • 2020: CMA Best New Artist Award, iHeart Radio Music Award for Best New Country.
  • 2021: Billboard Music Award for Top Country Album, Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist (2022).
  • 2022: CMA Album of the Year, AMA Favorite Male Artist, AMA Favorite Song- Country, iHeart Radio Music Award for Country Album of the Year.
